What a personal trainer costs in Singapore
The real bands, why they differ, and what the number doesn't tell you. My own prices are at the bottom, because it would be odd to write this and hide them.
The bands
These are the ranges published or quoted openly in 2026. Most studios in the CBD publish nothing at all, which is itself information.
| Who | Per session | Also paying |
|---|---|---|
| Trainer at a chain gym | S$90–150 | A S$100–150 monthly membership. Packages of 30–50 sessions are common, and so is pressure to buy them. |
| Freelance trainer (condo gym, park, rented floor) | S$60–110 | Usually nothing. Sometimes a floor fee if you train at their gym. |
| Private studio, CBD or Orchard | S$120–200 | Nothing extra. Some only sell large blocks; a few publish a single "from" price. |
| Premium studio, programme only | S$170–300+ | Sold as 12-week programmes from roughly S$4,000; price is rarely on the site. |
| Online or hybrid coaching | S$200–600 a month | One or two in-person sessions a month, or none. |
Why the number moves
Rent. A studio on Cross Street or Cecil Street is paying for the postcode, and so are you. A freelancer renting floor by the session pays S$23–28 an hour for a very good gym and passes on almost none of it.
Block size. Almost everyone discounts for volume. The question is how far the discount pulls you into a package you can't finish — the thing Singaporeans complain about most, and the thing that stops being funny when a gym closes with your money in it.
What's included. A session is a session. An assessment, a programme written for you, app support between sessions and measured reviews are not always in the number, and they're the part that decides whether the sessions work.
The sales model. Chain-gym trainers are usually paid on commission for the package, not for the coaching. That is why the first meeting so often ends with a 50-session "special price" that expires today.
What the price doesn't tell you
Three questions worth asking any trainer, at any price:
What will you measure on day one, and when do we measure it again? If the answer is vague, the programme will be too.
What happens to sessions I don't use? "They expire" and "subject to management approval" are answers.
Will I always train with you? Some places sell you a trainer and hand you to whoever is free.
A trainer who pushes a large package at the first meeting is telling you something. Listen to it.
Why most trainers don't publish
Because the number is decided in the room. It's easier to sell twenty sessions to someone who has already given you an hour than to someone reading a page at their desk. I understand the logic. I'd rather you filter yourself out at the desk than in my gym.
My prices
I coach one-to-one at gyms in Outram Park, Raffles Place, Tanglin, Robertson Quay and Tanjong Pagar. NSCA-certified, one year in, a deliberately short roster. Every price below includes the assessment, a programme written for you, and the app between sessions. No membership.
| Sessions | Per session | Total |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | S$160 | S$160 |
| 5 — the Foundation block | S$150 | S$750 |
| 10 | S$140 | S$1400 |
| 15 | S$130 | S$1950 |
| 20 | S$120 | S$2400 |
| The 12-week programme — 24 sessions, twice a week | S$120 | S$2,880 |
That puts me at the lower end of the studio band, with none of the membership. Sessions don't expire. If you stop, unused sessions are refunded pro-rata — ask in writing and it's done. The terms say the same thing.
Blocks are paid in advance; the programme S$960 before the first session of each four-week block, by PayNow or bank transfer. Results vary.
Twenty minutes on the phone first, free, then a free 60-minute assessment with a written report you keep either way. If I'm the wrong fit, I'll say so on the call.
